DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Oct 19, 2004--Today at EDUCAUSE 2004, PeopleSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) announced that the University of Vermont (UVM) selected PeopleSoft`s industry-leading solutions, including PeopleSoft(R) Enterprise Human Capital Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Supply Chain Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management. The applications will replace the university`s 20-year-old mainframe system and will better align business processes across the University.

''After an intensive evaluation and bidding process that included SAP and Oracle, PeopleSoft emerged as the clear choice to overhaul our current system,'' said J. Michael Gower, vice president for finance and administration at UVM. ''PeopleSoft solutions will not only move us forward into the 21st century but will also save us an estimated $6.3 million a year.''

PeopleSoft`s industry-leading solutions will replace the university`s legacy human resources and financial applications, including accounting, purchasing, payroll and benefits. The new solutions will streamline business processes and provide university officials greater visibility into the school`s financial data, allowing them to track business transactions more accurately and efficiently.

In addition, PeopleSoft Enterprise Purchasing will enable the University to manage purchasing activities online, and streamline the procurement process with automated workflow approvals, electronic commerce, email, automatic faxing and electronic catalogs. With the implementation of PeopleSoft Enterprise Purchasing, UVM expects to save up to $2.5 million a year in purchasing costs alone.

''The University of Vermont has joined a growing number of universities that are focused on improving their business processes to provide higher levels of service for their faculty, students and staff,'' said Kevin Horigan, group vice president and general manager, PeopleSoft Public Services. ''PeopleSoft`s industry-leading enterprise products will streamline administrative processes at UVM, allowing the school to realize significant cost savings.''

PeopleSoft Global Services will implement the suite of applications. The implementation is expected to be complete by 2006.
