Its commonly thought that half of all heart attacks occur in people with no risk factors.  But, two new studies reported in the medical journal JAMA show thats a myth and those who blame heart attacks on bad luck could be seriously mistaken.  The studies involving half a million people show that over 80 percent of people with coronary heart disease have at least one of the four major risk factors: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and smoking.  Doctor Michael Pignone of the University of North Carolina is a leading expert in cardiovascular disease prevention:

These data show the importance of assessing risk so that you and your doctor can take action to prevent you from having a heart attack.

Its estimated that 62 million people are at risk for heart disease.  Now more than ever, its important to talk to your doctor about taking steps to reduce that risk like diet and exercise, as well as whether aspirin therapy is right for you.  For more information, visit bayeraspirin-dot-com.
