Suggested Anchor Lead-in: Cartoons and animation delight people of all ages.  Now, the whole family can enjoy a piece of animation history.  Kate Quinn has more on this story.

With Shrek being named the first animated movie to win an Oscar, its clear animation has evolved.  But everyone still loves the classics.  Every week, over seven million kids and six million adults watch Scooby-doo and more than ten million watch Tom and Jerry.  Created as an artform, cartoon animation has since evolved into the mainstream entertainment.  George Feltenstein, animation expert:

Classic cartoons, especially the Looney Tunes, paved the way for todays pop culture hits like The Simpsons and Southpark.  Looney Tunes have a timeless appeal because theyre witty and everyone can relate to the variety of characters.  So by adding new technology and adventures, these classics have become new again.

The recent popularity of animation has lead to a revival of the classics including the debut of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection DVDs.  Restored from camera negatives, these cartoons have been preserved with special features including a trip to the Looney Tunes vault and featurettes that pay tribute to the creators and characters.  Animations eternal appeal makes these cartoons more popular than ever.  This is Kate Quinn.
