High Blood Pressure Threatens Health of Many Americans

High blood pressure has reached critical levels in the United States, with millions at risk for serious, even life-threatening, cardiovascular disease.  An estimated 60 million adults have high blood pressure.  According to Doctor Michael Weber, although there are effective blood pressure medications, the percentage of people seeking proper treatment is disappointing:

Only 25 to 30 percent of people who have high blood pressure in this country are having it effectively treated.  Many people are getting no treatment at all.  Even minimal increases in blood pressure are no longer considered acceptable.  Weve learned the hard way from all sorts of major clinical trials that just one or two tiny points of increased blood pressure can equate to strokes, to heart attacks are very serious outcomes.

To address this growing public health crisis, Novartis has launched a new nationwide program called, Take Action for Healthy Blood Pressure.  The aim is to motivate patients to work with their doctors to set, achieve and maintain their blood pressure goal. To learn more about how to enroll in the program and special educational materials, visit the web site healthbp-dot-com or call 866-556-3866.
