New  research shows that many people who probably should be - are not on an aspirin regiment, which could reduce their risk of a heart attack.

American Heart Association guidelines recommend doctors consider it to prevent a first heart attack.  Public health experts and medical professionals consider it an essential tool in preventing second heart attacks.  Most people know what were talking about:

Aspirin.  Aspirin. Ive heard that aspirin can help you prevent a heart attack.

Yet research by Stanford University reveals surprising news of all those who might benefit from an aspirin-a-day, only a fraction are taking it.  Doctor Randall Stafford reported the findings at the Society of General Internal Medicine in Chicago:

These results are disturbing.  Even among people with a history of heart attack, less than a quarter are on an aspirin regiment.

Doctor Stafford says the findings under score an important need:

With broader, appropriate use of aspirin therapy we could be preventing tens of thousands more heart attacks each year.

If youve had a heart attack or if you have multiple risks factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes, ask your doctor if aspirin is right for you.  For more information, visit bayeraspirin-dot-com.
