Ford Motor Company is bringing "Rosie the Riveter" to Washington, D.C., this week as the country prepares for the national World War Two memorial dedication. She's being recognized as part of a new exhibit called "Partners in Winning the War: American Women of World War Two." The original "Rosie" was a Ford employee and in honor of her and others like her, Ford Motor Company has collected more than 75-hundred stories and 150 artifacts from "Rosies," some of which are part of the new exhibit opening Memorial Day weekend at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. Lisa Owens, Multicultural Marketing Manager at Ford:
"Ford is proud to honor the legacy of �Rosie the Riveter� and the true spirit of empowered women which all �Rosies� represent. Ford has a long and straight history of female pioneers working at the company and was the first industrial corporation to hire women."
Ford also worked with Congress to pass a "Rosie the Riveter" Resolution. A bipartisan group of House and Senate members introduced a "Rosie the Riveter" Resolution on May 4th, honoring the contributions of women who worked on the homefront during World War Two. The Resolution was sponsored by all of the women in the U.S. Senate and 34 women from the U.S. House of Representatives.
