With Memorial Day around the corner, Americans are gearing up for summer travel. According to a survey by Yahoo! Travel, three out of four Americans will take a summer vacation this year, with the desire to visit friends and family, and rising gas prices being the leading factors affecting their planning. Travelers are also planning to open their wallets with the average household budgeting more than 17 hundred dollars for their summer vacations. Yen Lee from Yahoo! Travel says that more Americans plan to play it safe when it comes to selecting their summer destinations:
"We found the majority of Americans planning to take more than one summer trip this year, with about 60% saying theyre likely to return to a place theyve been before. Now that leaves many who will try a new vacation spot, but the likelihood of a new vacation spot is the weakest amongst people 55 and older."
