According to Forrester Research, purchasing online music is on the rise and those that download music are buying fewer CD's. Now, a new legal method of digital distribution may further challenge CD sales. Magnatune, an online record label that splits profits 50-50 with its artists, has teamed up with Hana Micron to introduce the TunePlug. Fully loaded with 10 complete rock albums from Magnatune, the TunePlug is a USB flash drive, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. John Buckman is Magnatune's Founder and CEO:
"TunePlug is a fair and legal way to get music and you can carry it around on your key chain, along with all your own files. You can just plug it in your computer and hey, you've got music. It's like having a CD that you can use. It's the first time music has been distributed this way, and we think it's the future."
