Nearly 1,600 Parties Nationwide Are Competing for the ''Party Challenge'' Prize of $5,000
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE via COLLEGIATE PRESSWIRE)--Feb 17, 2004--The most star-studded evening of the year is fast approaching, and the growing anticipation is evident at Movies.com. Movies.com is hosting ''Oscar(R) Party Challenge 2004,'' through which Academy Award(R) party organizers and attendees can go to www.movies.com to file their predictions using an electronic ballot until the day of the awards. After the Academy Awards(R) ceremony on February 29, the grand-prize winning team will receive $5,000 to throw the Ultimate Academy Awards(R) Party in 2005.
To date with nearly 1,600 party teams registered, ''Lord of the Rings'' is the clear favorite for Best Picture, and if predictions are correct this might be the year for Sean Penn. Following are leading contenders on Movies.com`s Oscar(R) Party Challenge:
