Microsoft Antitrust Case Settled

In the long-running Microsoft Antitrust Case, the U.S. Court of Appeals denied the final appeal by the state of Massachusetts and groups representing Microsoft�s competitors and unanimously approved the landmark settlement. The court ruled that it found no merit to the objections raised against the settlement. Jonathan Zuck of the Association for Competitive Technology said the decision was great news for the technology industry and consumers:

"After six years the cloud of uncertainty has finally been lifted from software industry. The decision will undoubtedly lead to reinvigorated and innovations throughout the technology industry that will benefit consumers."

The Appeals Court ruled that the negotiated settlement was "in its entirety" in the public interest.
