The Ford Motor Company along with National Geographic are challenging American grade schoolers to "Get Green."  A new contest, the "Radical Renovation: School Edition Initiative" is asking students how they'd make their school more environmentally friendly.  Paul DiMeo, host of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, explains:

"The contest is really easy to enter.  Everything is online at w-w-w-dot-national-geographic-dot-com-slash-go green-slash-ford.  And you can see it promoted in the March issues of National Geographic and National Geographic Kids magazines."

Ford has sponsored an environmentally focused lesson plan developed by National Geographic to be available to teachers nationwide.  Andy Acho from Ford:

"The students are encouraged in fun ways to come up with ideas in how to improve and preserve the environment around them, while the teachers are provided with an entertaining step-by-step plan to help teach their students and inspire them.  And the winning class will receive 100 hundred thousand dollars from Ford Motor Company to make that vision they had a reality."

Ford's commitment to a more sustainable world also includes a partnership since 2000 with the National Park Foundation, which has included donating more environmentally friendly vehicles.
