New Laws Proposed to Stop Underage Drinking

Trying to get underage kids to stop drinking has been an uphill battle for law enforcement across the country, but change is on the way. According to Century Council Research, 65 percent of underage drinkers get their alcohol from family and friends.  The worlds leading premium drinks business, Diageo and other groups are proposing tough new laws that target those kids and the adults who supply them.  In Virginia, State Delegate David Albo, agrees:

These tough laws are necessary because numerous underage people have died in traffic accidents throughout Virginia who were intoxicated and we need to stop their access to alcohol.

In addition to tougher laws and enforcement, the best way to help prevent underage kids from drinking is to talk to them early.  For help, check out, w-w-w-dot-centurycouncil-dot-org. There are programs for high school students, and tweens, the nine to 12 age group.  Its never too early to talk.
