An organization called the Forum for Academic and Institutional Rights(FAIR) which is comprised of a number of law faculty members and law schools, recently won its suit against the Defense Department. The federal court ruled that colleges can bar military recruiters from their campus without losing their federal funds. This ruling protects the First Amendment right of the schools to keep the military off their campuses in protest of the discriminatory Dont Ask. Dont Tell policy of the military. The ruling may eventually be appealed, but for now, it will be a little harder for recruiters to gain access to potential enrollees.
