Cell phones are the lifeline of every college student, as they can keep in touch with friends and family, but they can also mean expulsion from school if caught cheating with them. Text messaging has now made it easy for students to possibly cheat. Answers to test questions can be quickly sent across the room to another student without a sound thanks to this service and its ease of use can be tempting for even the best students. While most professors are aware of the situation and take steps to prevent this kind of cheating, this is still an issue of concern to schools. Many are reworking their academic integrity policies to keep up with the increase in cheating and plagiarism that is occurring on many campuses through the use of new technologies.
