Wine is the perfect compliment to a delicious meal, but for many Americans shopping for the right wine can be a challenge. A helpful hint is to select a bottle with a medal on the label - it may mean the wine is an award-winner. Tim McDonald, International Wine Judge, whos participated in 11 judgings this year:
Wine competitions are held throughout the year worldwide - where wines are judged without showing the labels by a panel of wine experts. Some wineries consistently show well, and one of the worlds most award-winning wineries is Gallo of Sonoma which has won major awards at many of the worlds largest and most impressive wine competitions. The winery has recently won Best Chardonnay Worldwide, American Winery of the Year, International Winery of the Year and even Winery of the Century. Their success can largely be attributed to the passion and dedication of third-generation winemaker and winegrower, Gina and Matt Gallo, as well as the development of their vineyards in Sonoma.
So, the next time youre shopping for a wine, go for the gold!
