This is National Awareness Week for Bone and Joint Health. The week is part of the Bone and Joint Decade, a global initiative to raise awareness of musculoskeletal health, stimulate research and improve peoples quality of life. More than 35 million Americans one in seven are affected by a musculoskeletal disorder. Dr. William Tipton, Director of Medical Affairs for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons:
"The number of people with arthritis is expected to grow from 43 to 60 million by 2020. And, beginning at age 65, hip fracture rates double for men and women in each decade of life. Prevention, treatment and research are key components in caring for our patients.
