The "swine fellows" are coming again, so are "buttrub-dot-com" as well as the "hoosier hogs." This Saturday, in a tiny town of less than 400 official residents, these unique groups and scores more like them are competing in what is considered the most prestigious of barbecue events -The 15th Annual Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue. More than 20-thousand dollars is up for grabs, but for many, that pales in comparison to what they really want - braggin' rights. Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Jimmy Bedford:
"And it just gets to be a lot of competitiveness going on there because, you know, they cooked all year and won some major contest before they get to Lynchburg and for them to get the opportunity to come to Lynchburg and compete against winners from around the country it's really, really pleasing to those teams."
Besides the cook-off in seven categories, some of the other festivities include a country dog contest, butt bowling and a rolling pin toss. Your friends at Jack Daniel's remind you to drink responsibly.
JACK DANIEL'S and OLD NO. 7 are Registered Trademarks. C 2002 Jack Daniel's. Tennessee Whiskey Alcohol 40-47% by Volume (80-94 proof). Distilled and Bottled by Jack Daniel Distillery, Lynchburg (POP. 361), Tennessee.
